VP candidate Biden visits Charlotte

CHARLOTTE -- Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden visited the Queen City on Sunday night.

In his appearance at Phillip O. Berry Academy in west Charlotte, the Delaware senator talked about the Obama/Biden campaign's plan for affordable health care for every American.

He stuck with the campaign slogan of change and said America is ready for drastic improvements.

Biden also criticized comments by President Bush that the country had made great progress economically.

"I could walk from here to Greensboro and I wouldn't find one person who says we've made great progress economically unless I ran into John McCain on the road."

Before his public appearance, Biden attended a private fund-raising event at the home of University of North Carolina president Erskine Bowles.
