CHARLOTTE -- Bobcats guard Jason Richardson was selected Monday by the NBA as Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 30.

The honor is Richardson’s second in four weeks, as he previously received the award for the week ending March 9. Earlier in his career, Richardson was named Western Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 20, 2005, when he was a member of the Golden State Warriors.

Denver’s Carmelo Anthony received the Western Conference Player of the Week award this week.

Richardson averaged 26.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 blocked shot during the week’s four games, leading the Bobcats to a 3-1 record that included a franchise-record-tying three-game road winning streak.

Richardson’s second award of the season is the third for a Bobcats player this year, joining Gerald Wallace, who received the award for the week ending January 20. Richardson also joins Wallace as the only Bobcats player to win the award more the once.
