The heat is turning the summer into a very hot fall, as leaves are drying and dying.
CHARLOTTE -- Despite the time of year, leaves are already beginning to fall from trees due to the soaring temperatures experienced recently in the region.
Clarence Earnhart’s trees are showing the heat’s harmful effect, as the leaves are shriveled up and strewn about his yard.
The heat is damaging trees and leaves.
The problem is “brought on a lot by the drought, excessive heat and the combination of the two with the fact we had a record March, late April freeze, you will end up with sick plants,” said gardening expert David Blankenberg.
Experts say tree conditions aren’t expected to improve until there are consecutive days of rain. They also said the dry conditions will cause little to no leaf color this fall.
