Every new baby at the hospital gets a onesie reminding their parents about the Back to Sleep campaign.
LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Lexington Memorial Hospital held a workshop Tuesday to educate new parents on the dangers of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
October is SIDS Awareness Month' and every baby born at the hospital will get a onesie baby garment that reminds parents that babies should play on their stomachs and sleep on their backs.
SIDS is the third leading cause of infant death in North Carolina. Parents should also remember to use a firm mattress in their baby's crib and to keep pillows, soft blankets and stuffed animals out of the crib.
Parents also shouldn't let anyone smoke near the baby and to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
