CHARLOTTE -- The investigation into three murders continued Tuesday. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Huntersville Police Department have been busy looking for answers.

"My wife saw smoke but we didn't pay it any attention," said neighbor Samuel Rouson. Now the neighbors are paying plenty of attention to a nearby house that caught fire early Monday morning.

"Initially I thought the fire was an accident," added neighbor Robert Williams.

But when the smoke cleared, police found two people inside and are calling their deaths homicides. They also found the body of a resident at the home on Patricia Ryan Drive in a ditch in Huntersville. Police believe all three deaths are related, and that news has neighbors worried.

"I'm just concerned because I've got two little children and I have a wife in the house and we just want to know what was going on," added Rouson.

That is what police are trying to piece together. Unfortunately, there are many pieces to this puzzle. On Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Huntersville police, the SBI and the Charlotte Fire Department spent the day sifting through the house looking for clues.

"I thought it was unusual," added Williams. "We usually don't have any trouble of any nature in this neighborhood."

So as police continue to work, neighbors are waiting on answers.

"I don't think there's anything we can do," said Williams. "We don't feel like that situation is indicative of this neighborhood. It's just one incident."

Huntersville police hope to release the name of its victim on Wednesday morning. Investigators are waiting on family notification. They also say they do not have a motive yet.
