CHARLOTTE -- Witnesses in the Christopher Ellerbe trial painted a picture Tuesday of the crime scene immediately following the shooting of Officer Kayvan Hazrati in 2006.
A number of crime scene investigators were called to the stand to present evidence such as the robe investigators say Ellerbe wore during the hours-long standoff in north Charlotte and the gun he is believed to have used when he shot Hazrati in the head.
A number of crime scene investigators were called to the stand Tuesday to present evidence.
Hazrati was at the home on Norcroft Drive to issue Ellerbe an arrest warrant for rape. Ellerbe says he thought someone was trying to break into the home and the shooting was accidental.
Crime scene technician Angela Flanders described to jurors her investigation of Ellerbe at the hospital after the standoff.
"He was on a gurney. He was being rendered to by the medical personnel there. His hands were bagged with paper bags wrapped with tape when I got there," she explained.
Ellerbe, who is representing himself, asked one or two questions to each of the witnesses.
Hazrati's therapists are also expected to take the stand.
