WINSTON-SALEM -- Winston-Salem will host the Southeastern Symposium on Breast Cancer Disparities this Friday. The event will focus on the threat of breast cancer in minorities and other underserved groups.
"With the disparities and incidents of survival here in the southeast, it's clear that this gap is not closing at all,” explained Dr. John Stewart with Wake Forest Medical Center. “It's important for us to come together as a medical community and think about the causes of these differences and see if we can form coalitions to see if we can make a difference in the outcome of this disease.
The event will take place on North Cherry Street. Registration is required. To register, contact Lisa Peavler at lpeavler@wfubmc.edu or (336) 713-7729.
