BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- It's not every day you see an adult wear a mask and cape, but teachers at Browns Summit Middle School donned the attire during a pep rally Monday.
The whacky costumes were a way to motivate the sixth, seventh and eighth graders to do well on their End-of-Grade testing this week.
"We wanted to motivate them to get great grades on their end of grade assessments," Principal Michelle Ungurait explained.
So she decided to get the faculty to dress up like superheroes after checking out some websites with ideas on how to get kids ready for big tests.

"Every motivational activity involved deep humiliation for the principal. Kissing animals, shaving my head, sleeping in a tent on the school at night."

And now these students say they are ready to put their knowledge to the test.
"I plan to go to bed early tonight and eat a good breakfast, a healthy one," eighth grader Timothy Jackson said.
Testing will be given May 20-22.
