9-year-old killed in four-car collision

Matthew Donald Seavers, 9, of McEwen, Tennessee was killed.
ALAMANCE COUNTY -- A 9-year-old child is dead after a four-car collision in Alamance County.


It happened around 6 p.m. Friday night along N.C. 87 at Preacher Holmes Road. Highway Patrol says a Ford Taurus was headed south on N.C. 87, followed by a Chevy Blazer and a GMC truck. It appears the driver of the Taurus slowed to turn onto Preacher Holmes Road.


As the following Blazer slowed down, the GMC truck behind it did not, ramming the Blazer and sending it into the northbound lane where it was hit again by a Mitsubishi.


Matthew Donald Seavers, 9, of McEwen, Tennessee and his mother, the driver of the Blazer, were airlifted to UNC Hospitals. The names and conditions of the other victims are not known. Charges are pending against he driver of the GMC truck.
