GREENSBORO -- The son of N.C. State basketball coach Sidney Lowe pleaded guilty to several charges in a Greensboro courtroom on Monday.
Sidney Lowe II admitted to committing six counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. The charges are related to a March 2007 home invasion.

Lowe also issued an Alford plea -- an act where a defendant denies committing the crime but admits there is sufficient evidence to possibly find him guilty -- on a conspiracy to commit armed robbery charge for a shooting that happened on UNC Greensboro’s campus.
Toward the end of the appearance, the court began hearing expert testimony from a psychiatrist who talked about Lowe’s drug addiction at the time of both incidents.
“I discovered that he was using every day, and it was in a range of five pills to 15 pills a day,” said Moira Artigues, a psychiatrist for the defense. “And on the average 8-9 pills a day which is really a massive dose of ecstasy.”
Artigues has said that since then, Lowe has cleaned up his act after going through a month-long rehab about a year ago. She said he has since then become a kind of model citizens.
Lowe will be back in court Tuesday.
