Hope Mills man accused of sex crimes

CUMBERLAND COUNTY -- A Hope Mills man is facing charges that he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives say 27-year-old Andrew Rogers began inappropriately touching the girl in December of last yet. They say those activities escalated and lead to him kidnapping the girl and forcing her to commit sexual acts.
Rodgers faces several charges including statutory rape and second-degree kidnapping. His first court appearance is set for Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, his brother-in-law Michael Strickland, 29, is charged with obstruction of justice in the case. He was released from the Cumberland County detention center under a $3,000 secured bond.
