Community groups are doing their part to make sure North Carolina households are filling out and mailing back their Census forms. At the First Baptist Church in Raleigh, church officials distributed fliers in programs and handed out 2010 Census fans in the pews.

An N.C. State football player from Mooresville is accused of beating up a shuttle bus driver. Police say 20-year-old Justin Ross Sweezy is charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor larceny. Football coach Tom O'Brien has suspended Sweezy indefinitely.

Firefighters say insulation in one of the towers at the Corning plan caught fire Sunday. No hazardous materials were released in the blaze, which began at about 1:30 p.m. The fire forced the evacuation of employees, but there were no injuries.
