GREENSBORO – Students from colleges and universities throughout Guilford County gathered Thursday as Ignite Greensboro held its first Frozen Exhibition on the campus of UNC Greensboro in an effort to get fellow students involved in their own community.

“As a generation, we have a lot to take from the generations previous,” UNCG student Stephanie Dappenbrook said. “they have so much to offer us, and basically, we’re sitting back and not paying attention, and we really want to create a scene today to make people take notice and look at it and see this is what happened in the past. What are we doing now, here, today to show that we learned something about it?”

Ignite Greensboro is working to promote place that preserve history, like the Civil Rights Museum.

“We have to pass the torch,” N.C. A&T student Cherrell Brown said. “We had the Greensboro Four, but we can’t live off that legacy forever. So we have to now pick up the torch, pick up the momentum and keep it going.”

Ignite Greensboro is working to raise money to donate to the civil rights museum and to use for community volunteer projects. Visit their Web site for more information on how to get involved.
